Diving here is an all-year-round activity, because of the exceptional climatic conditions on the Costa Tropical. We enjoy more than 320 days of sunshine a year, with temperatures averaging 18c in the winter and 25c during the summer. The sub-tropical microclimate enables the growth of many tropical fruits, which is an important economic resource of the area.
The Alpujarras mountain region is just 30 minutes away.

Granada
One of the most beautiful cities in Spain, Granada is best known for its stunning Moorish Palace, ‘The Alhambra’ built to represent ‘Paradise on Earth’ with its courtyards and fountains. There are also traces of several mosques, a cathedral and other sites of interest in Granada’s ancient streets.www.michellechaplow.com The highest mountain road in Europe begins in Granada, taking you to the huge snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountain region where you can ski from autumn through to mid-spring.

Marina del Este
Club Nautique is situated in the beautiful Marina del Este, right on the port; the setting is stunning - you need to come and savour the experience!
Heading away from Malaga, on the N 340 towards Almeria, you will leave behind the built up areas, which give way to mountainous scenery and the ‘paraje natural’ surrounding ‘Cerro Gordo’. The Marina nestles the rocky coastline, between the villages of La Herradura and the larger town of Almuñecar; here, as well as wonderful diving, you will find excellent restaurants and bars, art galleries, shops, tennis, ten-pin bowling and a gymnasium.

La Herradura
The village is found between the headland of Cerro Gordo and the lookout point of Punta de la Mona, and retains the charm of a fishing village with its picturesque horseshoe bay. Our four-star hotel accommodation is here, right next to the beach!

Almuñecar
Almuñecar lies in the shelter of a Muslim castle and is thought to be the oldest municipality on the tropical coast, founded by the Phoenicians around 3,000 years ago. Roman and Arabic remains give the town its rich culture; archeological remains include three Phoenician necropolises, a salt factory, the Roman Aqueduct and columbarium, and a Moorish castle. The former Roman temple, Cueva de Siete Palacios, houses an Archeological Museum containing Egyptian relics, amphora’s, figurines and a wealth of other exhibits.
Almuñecar hasrs one of the best-known beaches in the area ‘Playa de San Cristóbal’, and also the ‘Aqua Tropic Park’, with waterslides, pools etc and fun for all the family. There is an excellent street market every Friday, until around 2pm and finally the Ornithological Park, with 120 different species of birds.

Almuñecar has a web site for further information www.almunecar-tropical.org
